A Message from the pa iolta Board Chair

Irwin W. Aronson, Esq. Board Chair

“Access to justice is a matter of fundamental importance in a civil and democratic society. Underlying that foundational theme is the vital importance of ensuring that all members of our society, regardless of economic or financial situation, must have access to justice, both in terms of the legal process and its substantive outcomes. Indeed, where basic human needs are at stake, everyone must have access to a competent lawyer to navigate our complex legal system.

Every day Pennsylvania legal services attorneys and volunteer private practitioners working pro bono publico ensure that low income Pennsylvanians have access to legal representation in matters involving housing, utilities, nutrition, medical care, family matters, our communities and much more.

The unwavering commitment of the Pennsylvania IOLTA Board, and each of its members who have been designated by our equally committed Pennsylvania Supreme Court, to the financial support of access to legal services for all, serves as an exemplary model…together we operate in recognition that the most advanced justice system in the world would be a failure if it does not assure justice to the people it is intended to protect.”
